After the Cubs went 3-1 in October, they headed to the playoffs in hopes of another state championship title, but lost to Lynden 28-7, ending their chances for a state title. When asked what it would take to make it to state, offensive guard Juan Sanchez said, “If we can improve at running the ball better and pass defense stepping up”. After Codey Pittis’ dominant perfor-mance in the month of October, 50 carries for 449 yards and 5 touchdowns, he was an asset the run game. As far as pass defense, with the Cubs shutting down the number 1 QB in the 2A Northwest District to just 133 yards and three interceptions, as well as the 5 other interceptions of October it looked as though the Cubs’ pass defense would be a force to be reckoned with. Fullback and Tight End Bryson Bartlett said, “We could be a state caliber team with the improvements we make but I believe the team has a great chance.”
