SWHS’s Journalism Forum and a Special Thanks to Dwayne’s Lanes

Public and students collected in the Little Theater at Sedro-Woolley High School on March 9 to discuss the role journalism plays in society today. A panel of select speakers sat in front of the audience to share how journalism affects their life and what the importance of it is to them. Speakers included individuals from the Skagit Valley Herald, Concrete Herald, Mount Vernon police, Sedro-Woolley City Council, Western Washington University, Yakima Herald-Republic, and The Cardinal. The event was put together by SWHS’s journalism club as a fundraiser. The money has been raised to fund future issues of The Cub as well as being put towards WJEA and national conferences to promote student’s professional journalism skills and experience.

The journalism club would like to send out a special thanks to Dwayne’s Lanes for their donation to our forum fundraiser. With their contribution, we were able to raise money for journalism students attending educational conventions as well as states and nationals. Editors of The Cub are extremely grateful for the donation, and are hoping to re-create the forum again next year.
