The Woolley Market Takes on New Owners

The Woolley Market is a centerpiece in Sedro-Woolley. Everyone knows about it and has most likely been there before once or twice, but not everyone knows what is going on business-wise. The Woolley Market has recently sold the store to its employees.

“I go there at least once a year, but  I didn’t know that some of the employees bought the Woolley Market,” Wyatt Kunkel, a former Sedro-Woolley High School student said.

A lot of people that never really go there don’t know about this information, but, people that do go there know about it.

“I go there at least once a week, and yes I did know that the Woolley Market it was previously bought by some employees. I definitely believe that the Woolley Market will improve from this and it gives the employees something to look forward to and to have more of an input into the store rather than owned by just one owner,” Scott Gahan, a student at Sedro-Woolley High School.

The Woolley Market owners, Will and Tahlia Honea, were looking for someone or some people to buy the Woolley Market. Will and Tahlia Honea have been wanting to move the Woolley Market up to Bellingham, or just buy and create a space up in there like it. They realized how much the market has impacted Sedro-Woolley and didn’t want to leave it.

Rebecca Windship is one of the employees that recently bought the Woolley Market. Windship went to college for business and thought it would be a great idea to be apart of buying it. She’s always wanted to be apart of something like the Woolley Market.

“I’ve worked here for three years I’ve always wanted to own my own business. I have a lot of experience in management, that’s what I studied in college so then it just seemed like the perfect opportunity. I was already apart of the team and everybody knew me, it was a consistency factor. How do you pass that up? This place is magic and I want to be apart of magic,” Windship said.

The Woolley Market is magic, and many people can agree on that. New things are featured in the Woolley Market now like space, they built a stage for more live music and moved things around that created more room for seating. And they have pizza now!
