Sedro-Woolley community members gathered on the first Saturday of the month for the annual Christmas parade and tree lighting.
Per tradition, the Sedro-Woolley High School band and choir were wearing their most festive attire as they marched down Metcalf, serenading viewers with holiday classics.
Local organizations decked their rides with lights and paraded down the street waving, tossing candy, and spreading cheer. Sedro-Woolley Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Pola Kelley regarded the event as a success. “Overall the use of light was better,” said Kelley.
A returning feature of the parade is a local fire truck covered in lights from top to bottom.
SWHS Varsity football player Kaden Plymale helped sell hot chocolate to bystanders to raise money for the team.
The clear night was a positive change form the drizzle that hung over last year’s event.
This year’s Douglas Fir stands about 50 feet tall according to Assistant Fire Chief Frank Wagner. It is stung with golden lights that can be seen from blocks away.
“Probably over 50 percent more people showed up,” said Kelley, pleased with the increase in community involvement.
The annual event continues to draw crowds and showcase some of the many things Sedro-Woolley has to offer.
