This Is as Fresh as it Gets

Farmers market is a community event that takes place at Hammer Heritage Square in Sedro-Woolley every Wednesday from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. This event allows farmers, crafters, and processors from all over Washington to come together and sell their products. A library event  takes place at the market every month where a tent is put up and kids can look at the different types of fruits and vegetables.

Jesse Cable, of “Dahlia Depot,” has been at Farmers market four years. At his table you can find locally grown herbs, veggies, flowers, microgreens, and farm fresh eggs. When Jesse is not at Farmers market, he has a small farm that has been going on for about seven years. One thing Jesse loves about his job is that there is free marketing, a system where a person can decide the prices of his/her goods.

Microgreens, baby green sprouts grown from seeds that are rich in flavor, are now a popular product in stock: their flavor is a lot more intense than mature greens.

Cleda Thompson, who runs the “Ma and Pa Kettle Corn” table has also been at Farmers market four years. She not only runs her vendor at Farmers Market, but also in Mount Vernon, Camano Island, festivals, and fairs. At Thompson’s vendor, you will find sweet and salty kettle corn, caramel corn, and mini donuts.

Every week at Farmers market, a music event occurs. This week a famous American musician from Seattle named PK Dwyer (also goes by Kevin Dwyer) came to the market to play some folk music and blues. Dwyer is famous for his songs, guitar work, and harmonica riffs. So if you are interested in buying fresh produce or listening to folk music, Farmers market is definitely the place to go!
