Track Sees Large Turnout for the 2023 Season
As the season began, the runners at Sedro-Woolley High School began to check their spikes and stretch before competing against other schools in the area. The Sedro-Woolley track team has about 90 competitors that compete in many events including sprints, relays, hurdles, high jump, and shot put.
The Sedro-Woolley Track team is set out to have a strong, successful season, explains Head Coach Johnny Lee.
“We don’t have any events that are down, we’ve got some events where not many people are participating but the ones we do are high quality so that scores points.”
Lee is hoping for plenty of points and expects the best from his team.
Makendra Mccarty said the highlights of her season will definitely be the big invites.
“Being in races with really good runners from all over is a really good challenge that always pushes me to do my best,” she said.
This intense sport wreaks havoc on the runners bodies, but they strive to push through and be the best.
“I always struggle with injuries, but I’m doing my best to keep healthy for the entire season.” Makendra explained.
