Were Seniors Nerfed by Senior Assassins?
Seniors at Sedro-Woolley High School have opposing opinions on how senior assassins were organized.
Senior assassins is an elimination game played in pairs, which are assigned another team to eliminate using nerf guns.
The participants are not allowed to assassinate at sporting events, school events, or on school campus. They also can’t assassinate targets while they’re working or on church grounds. Participants must be invited into their house. Once they eliminate your target, they move on to the eliminated targets.
Faith Simon, a senior at Sedro-Woolley High School, was looking forward to bringing out her competitive side with her boyfriend.
“I was looking forward to being on a team with my boyfriend because it would have been fun and competitive,” Simon said.
However, many seniors did not see posts or announcements about senior assassins. Due to the lack of communication, some seniors, including Simon, did not get to participate.
Cruz Trevithick, a junior at Sedro-Woolley High School and the organizer in charge of senior assassins, explained that she wished former seniors would have given her more information. “I definitely [wish] that people would have told me that I could make more announcements so that others could be involved and it could be more fun,” Trevithick said.
Miguel Zamora Bravo, a senior at Sedro-Woolley High Schoo and a member of the final two teams left in senior assassins, says he enjoys the excitement of the game. “I like the adrenaline rush, and think we are going to win,” Bravo said.
Even growing up, Simon looked forward to senior assassins. “[It was] something that I watched my siblings do and I wasn’t able to do it,” Simon said. “I had money, I would have won, and I’m so competitive.”
Bravo believes everyone tried their best, even when they were busy. “I liked that the people that were in at least tried. The bad part was that a lot of us worked, so a lot of us couldn’t participate because they were busy,” Bravo says.
For years, senior assassins has been something seniors look forward to. Even with this year’s communication issues, students still believe senior assassins is a good way to enjoy their last year of high school.
“I think it’s a fun idea because it gets students involved with each other and brings teamwork, and I think that it’s a good way for all the seniors to be a part of something that could be the last thing you do with your senior class,” Simon said.
