Have you ever stopped to think about our school’s history? And was there a pool? Well the history is there underneath the marble floors you walk on everyday.
“The story of the bond that passed to build the pool is the best one,” said Building and Matintence for SWHS Brad Bodin. “The war broke out and the pool bond went into making the walls thicker for a bomb shelter, which is what the auditorium became while being a theatre/bomb shelter.”
In December Brad Brodin took three of us to the basement into the dirt, rocks, millions of nails, rusted pipes, welding rods, and the deceased roadents. There were bruises on our knees from the hard concrete and crawling through tiny entryways to different parts under the school.
“When Sedro-Woolley High school was first built, there were half high walls,” said Bodin on the afternoon tour. “You can see the cafeteria all the way from the east end of the building. Which is why when you walk down the hallways, you can see the blue and white painted strips all around the walls.
