Starting this year, Sedro-Woolley High School implemented a new phone policy. Students are required to put their phones in a holder at the beginning of class, and after class, they may retrieve them. If a students is caught with their device, their phone is send to the front office where a parent must pick them up. This is much more strict compared to last year, where students where given warnings before a parent had to pick them up. This new policy has yielded mixed results. Many of the holders remain unused from students refusing to offer their phones. One student says, “they put our phone in a prison.” Even so, educators have found this policy to be beneficial. “I’ve actually had to the bring the energy down. Which is new,” says Brett Anderson. Be that as it may, the phone policy is set to stay for the foreseeable future.
