The Sedro-Woolley FFA dug their way to nationals, and broke the state record, with two teams winning gold and silver at the national level. The chapter was in Kentucky for a week.
The first part of the week the kids were practicing, practicing, practicing, according to FFA Advisor Wayne Ramsey.
Then came competition and they gave it their all: the Floral Team of four came out with 12th and GOLD! Karlie Lodjic placed 7th and got a gold medal. Alec Solemslie got 11th and a gold medal, Megan Mc Cloud got a silver medal, and Amy Joyce got a bronze medal! The Nursery/Landscape Team of three got SILVER! Kayliegh Estill got a gold medal, Phoenix Roe got a silver medal, and Brayden Smith got a bronze medal!
“The kids amazing and really represented Sedro-Woolley well” Ramsey said. “I really believe it challenges our high functioning academic kids and causes them to grow, and learn how to handle pressure.”
Ramsey said they are competing with huge schools and dug their way to the top. “The FFA chapter is running with the big guns” Ramsey said. “So biggest thing I can say is, everybody knows back there now that there’s a new dog on the porch and to make some room for us.”
