Can You Dig It?

Sedro-Woolley High School’s Volleyball Team lost against Lynden Christian Thursday night, September 13. The girls fought hard to the finish throughout all three sets with outstanding performances from offense and defense.

Several points were made by senior Middle Jillian Nelson with many powerful hits, junior Middle Samantha Wise with spikes flying right past Lyndens Blockers, junior Setter/Outside Elleece Derby serving a few aces, and senior Setter/Right Side Maren Mihelich who did an outstanding job covering both positions. The girls have been putting their all into practices and games striving for their best performances with stats of (2-3).

The girls did not let this loss affect them as they headed to Olympia to participate in the Kitsap Classic where Sedro-Woolley took first place after playing ten games against nine other teams. Sedro-Woolley’s volleyball team has never taken first place in a Varsity tournament until now.

When asking Samantha Wise, junior at Sedro-Woolley High School and student at Skagit Valley College, how she feels the tournament went she said, “We really clicked as a team. It was a long day, but we stayed hyped the whole time. We never gave up or let anything hit the floor.”

At the end of the day the girls came back and used that loss as motivation to win all ten games.
