Democrats Duke it Out in Overcrowded Race to be Nominee

This year, the Democratic Presidential Debates have 10 candidates still running, and has a wide variety of candidates with many females and different nationalities running the election so far.
“I would like to see Elizabeth Warren win,” said Isabel Garcia, a former student at Sedro-Woolley High School.
If a woman won the election they would be the United State’s first female president.
“We’re just as capable as men to be president,” Garcia said.
However, some candidates think it is unfair that candidates like Warren are in the lead because they get more time in debates than others.
“The DNC and corporate media are trying to hijack the entire election process,” presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard said in a video posted on Twitter for her campaign.
Gabbard wasn’t going to attend the October debates because she said the DNC (Democratic National Committee) has been rigging the polls and debates. “There are so many of you who I have had the opportunity to meet in Iowa and New Hampshire who have expressed to me how frustrated you are that the DNC and the corporate media are essentially trying to usurp your role as voters in choosing who our Democratic nominee will be,” Gabbard said in the video posted on Twitter.
The prospect of a female president became a hot topic in the last presidential election when Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump were the candidates in 2016.
“I don’t think that gender matters at all. Women and men have the equal amount of potential for any type of work, whether its voting for president or doing physical work,” said Alma Serrano, Sedro-Woolley High School alumni.
Some Americans don’t think that Bernie Sanders should be running after losing in 2016 and suffering a heart attack this year in late September while being 78 years old.
“Bernie Sanders is 78 and has been a senator since 2007. He has been the longest in U.S congress since ever and should retire or be put in a retirement homes” said Nick Stratton, former student at Sedro-Woolley High School.
President Donald Trump has also been viewing the debates and called some of the candidates out.
Trump was criticized for referring to Elizabeth Warren as “Pocahontas,” although she is not a Native American. Trump has also referred to Biden as “Sleepy Joe”
Candidate Joe Biden was leading the polls at the start of the race but then fell to Elizabeth Warren, however he managed to regain his position and is currently leading.
“Joe Biden is a legally qualified person to run.” said Stratton, though he goes on to say that Biden would never receive his vote because of how immaturely Stratton believes he has marketed his campaign. “He markets his campaign by selling baby onesies and selling plastic tote bags when his reason for running is to reduce C02 emissions,” said Stratton.
Michael Bloomberg entered the Democratic debates late Nov.
“If [Trump] wins another term in office, we may never recover from the damage,” Bloomberg’s statement continues.
“The stakes could not be higher. We must win this election,” said Bloomberg in his campaign announcement speech. The Democratic Party will nominate the 2020 presidential candidate at its convention in Milwaukee the week of July 13, 2020.
Some say that Bloomberg running for president guarantees Donald Trump winning.
“No one is out there thinking ‘Oh please let it be Mike Bloomberg,’” said Tammy Bruce, an american radio host, author, and political commentator, describing the reaction of the average Democratic primary voter to the former New York City mayor’s entry into the 2020 presidential race.
Another candidate running is the former Governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick, who entered the race this month.
Some question if Trump will be able to run in 2020, as the current impeachment inquiry is still underway.
Recently, a video of foreign leaders Justin Trudeu, Emmanuel Macron and Boris Johnson were caught on video mocking and laughing about Donald Trump and democratic candidate Joe Biden used it in his newest campaign ad “A President The World Is Laughing At.”
Donald Trump reacted to the video of the world leaders laughing “Well, he’s two-faced,” Trump said of Trudeau alongside German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday. “And honestly with Trudeau, he’s a nice guy, but the truth is I called him out on the fact he’s not paying two percent [in military spending] and I guess he’s not happy about it.”
As election season heats up, the pressure is on for candidates hoping to secure their position as nominee and come one step closer to the White House.
