Senior Carsten Reynolds has signed his letter of intent to play football at South Dakota State University. Reynolds has been a very dynamic player at Sedro Woolley High School as starting Quarterback for the past four years.
I think I’ve always known since I was a kid that I was going to play in College, so since I was 6 or 7 it always was my dream,” said Reynolds.
Reynolds has learned so much and had various important experiences throughout his time at the high school. All of which giving him something to put in his pocket for his collegiate career.
“I have experienced many things in our program but I think the biggest thing that I will carry on to college is my work ethic and that was instilled into me by our coaching staff,” said Reynolds.
Reynolds has collected various of awards and accolades. This including awards such as the Skagit Valley Herald Offensive Player of the Year. This is a major accomplishment as he was picked out of all the players in the Northwest Conference
Reynolds also received the Northwest All Conference Offensive and Defensive MVP and Northwest conference second team punter. Which is a big honor from a conference with as much talent as this one.
He also on top of that received the Leaders in Sportsmanship Award for his hard work not only towards being an athlete, but also for his work as a student, teammate, and leader. This is not coming as a surprise to anyone who knows Reynolds and how much he has worked for this.
While Reynolds has had an amazing high school career, facing the process of recruitment takes a lot of resilience and effort,
“The process of getting recruited is very unique. There are so many ways to get looked at nowadays so it may seem kinda overwhelming, but the best thing I found that worked would be going to show cases, which are camps to show your skills.” said Reynolds, “I was very stressed about getting recruited as well but, I never went to camps and made a name for myself,”
Reynolds’ decision between colleges came down to South Dakota State University and the University Of Montana. Ultimately. Reynolds made his decision to continue his athletic and academic career at University of South Dakota as a linebacker and an education major.
South Dakota State has won the National Title of Division 1 Champions back to back in 2022 and 2023. This being something that he wants to continue when he begins his collegiate football career.
“My goal for the next step in my collegiate career would be to be an impact to my team in multiple ways and go win a National Championship,” said Reynolds.
The community of Sedro-Woolley will continue to support Reynolds in his football journey and are excited to see the lengths that he goes.
