Isaac Oporto has served Sedro-Woolley High School since he was a freshman in 2022. He is the current ASB president and has served class presidencies in the past. As his senior year comes to an end in 2026, he will be retiring from his ASB presidency.
Oporto’s influence on the school has had a large impact on students. Karson Dickman, a senior at SWHS, recounts how impressed she was with how Oporto managed to revive the lip dub, which hadn’t been done for several years. “My favorite thing that he’s done would probably be the coordination of the lip sync, the lip dub, because I think that’s really impressive. And I don’t know how he juggles all that work, but he always makes things come together in the end, and it’s very impressive, “ Dickman said.
Not only has Isaac worked hard in ASB, but he has contributed to a positive school environment with his warm demeanor. Atlas Farnsworth, a Sophomore at SWHS, notes how he admires his personality. “I would say [My favorite thing about Isaac is] anything through ASB, like assemblies or activities, because he’s like a big, bold sunshine, his personality,” said Farnsworth.
Oporto values his time as ASB president and says it has helped him grow and evolve as a person.
“I never pictured myself as a leader and ASB allowed me to become the leader who I am today,” said Oporto.
Because Oporto is stepping down and graduating from high school, he wanted to share some words with his classmates.
“Future ASB, Just always remember to never give up, and always strive to- always try and help each other out. It doesn’t matter how bad a situation is, it doesn’t matter [who] the people [are], you’re here [to do great things.] I want you all to remember what we’ve accomplished this year and apply that for next year, but make it 10 times better … to the future students of Sedro-Woolley, I would like to say always get involved, always join clubs, try different things because the school has so many different opportunities for you. … those opportunities can help find who you are,” said Oporto..
