Popular Pop-Rap singer Macklemore generated enthusiasm among the Sedro-Woolley High School students on Wednesday, March 30 when he gave a special shout out out to the school, in preparation for SWHS annual Lip Dub which will be filmed in downtown Sedro-Woolley this Friday. The school will feature Macklemore’s hit song “Downtown”.
“It’s dope, it’s cool that we are using a musician from our state. It’s even more inspiring that Macklemore, who has a huge following and has a busy schedule, can find time to send Sedro-Woolley High School a video showing his appreciation,” said Senior Keegan Holdt who has had previous experience working with the famous musician.
Steve McCartt, who organizes the Lip Dub each year, has been working with students over the past several weeks to prepare to film the video.
“You know, it’s been a stressful few months, planning, getting a hold of the city council and the sheriff’s office,” said Senior Alison Blanton who has participated in the Lip Dub for many years and is a head organizer. “But it’s gonna be worth it, once we see that final video in and the whole city coming together.”
Macklemore’s music producer Ryan Haug, who graduated from Sedro-Woolley in 2002, is allowing SWHS to use his professional equipment in the filming of the lip dub.
The School decided to invite the whole community to join in. “The more people the better,” said Senior Myles Doorn. Doorn has been working closely with Steve McCart to put this Lip Dub together.
